Today's topic is a touchy one. Money is a huge source of discussion and tension in our country right now, especially the growing gap between the middle class and the rich. I understand the argument, that rich people and corporations have grown their income in huge proportions during the recession while the middle class just seems to lose more and more. At least that's how Occupy Wall Street puts it. And you know what, they're right! But you can't blame the rich for their prosperity and heres why.
I'm going to break this into two categories for everyone, starting with rich individuals. Don't be lead to believe that rich people are rich because of dumb luck. Rich people are rich because they've learned how to manage their money. A large majority of americans believe that you can only be rich if you make a big salary, win the lottery, or invest your money, but people who do those things can still be poor. Being rich is mindset. Just because you win the lottery doesn't make you rich. It just makes you a poor person with lots of money and it will disappear quickly, unless you change your mindset. Just because you make a big salary doesn't mean your rich. It means your a poor person with lots of money and it will disappear quickly, unless you change your mindset.
Do you see the pattern here? Being rich has nothing to do with how much money you have but how you manage the money you have. If money is managed well and you live within your means, any amount of money can grow into lots of wealth, therefor making you rich. To be rich, do rich people things. Also, what is this fascination with getting rich people to pay "their fare share" of taxes? One, the rich pay millions more than the middle does and second, I don't see the middle class trying to get their own tax rate lowered. Maybe instead of trying to get taxes raised on one group of people why don't we try a get all taxes lowered on everybody so everybody can win. I'll bet that if taxes were lowered on everybody and our government didn't take so much of our money then not so many people would be upset about "the gap".
Now lets talk about corporations. I really only have three simple things to say about this. First, corporations have lots of money because you buy their stuff. Duh....... If you don't want corporations to be so rich then don't buy their stuff. It's very simple. For instance, the other day I was driving in the downtown area of my state capital and I went by the Occupy protesters. To my surprise, as I drove by I happen to notice one of the protesters sitting by his tent eating McDonalds. HELLO?!?!? I think that explains itself. Second, raising taxes on corporations is a very stupid idea. Why you ask? Do you really think in your right mind that a business is going to take that out of their profits? Do you honestly think that they're just going to absorb the cost of taxes being higher? Hell no they aren't! They are going to pass that lovely tax increase onto you through higher prices:) So in essence, taxing corporations more simply taxes you more. And one last thing. Private business is what grew this country into what it is today and is the backbone on our economy. It's what allows us to be the most prosperous country in the world, but our government has made it so hard and expensive to employ people in America that the businesses go to other countries.
My solution to the economy is simple: Lower taxes on every american citizen to give them more of their own money, lower taxes on businesses to give them the ability to employ people here in the states, and to empower new businesses to start up. Production fuels job and economic growth, not government bailouts.

Our Great Military
First off, I want to clarify something before I get into this subject. Nobody likes war. Period. It's an awful thing and a product of our sinful human nature. Unfortunately because it's human nature to have conflict, that means that world peace won't happen. Sorry folks, but it just won't. Miss America can dream all she wants, but there will never be complete world peace. With that being said lets get into our topic.
Lots of people in our country dislike the military and are very opposed to the "War on Terror". People say things like, "We didn't have a reason to go there", "It's not our job to police the world", "The people in the Middle East don't want us there". The people who say these things have forgotten a really big piece of the whole "War on Terror" puzzle. THEY CAME HERE FIRST!!
On Sept. 11th, 2001 our country was invaded. A group of terrorists came into our country, hijacked 4 of our commercial aircraft, and killed almost 3000 American citizens. I don't know about you, but that sounds like a pretty good reason to fight back. What good is our country if we aren't willing to defend it against those who would destroy it. To anyone who is oppose to having a strong military I say this: When a terrorist comes knocking on your door to say hello, you're going to wish the President hadn't cut the defense budget.
Now to the people who say that this war has gone on long enough, I am on your side. But the problem isn't with our military but rather our government. The United States of America has a great military. They're the best military in the world, from funding to technology to the quality of our soldiers. The problem is that our government has them so locked up in the political game that they can't even fire a bullet without filling out paperwork. That's ridiculous!! Nothin' like paperwork to discourage a person.
If the government would stop playing games, let the soldiers get in, do their job, and get out, then we'd have been out of this mess a long time ago. Another part of that is, the troops don't want to be on the ground fighting any more than we want them to be. The troops want to do their job and then come home to their families.
The point is this. Don't blame the soldiers and don't be mislead by anyone who tells you that they aren't good at their job. We, as a country, need a strong military that is able to fight a threat before it arrives on American soil and to keep our enemies at bay, because the moment we don't is the moment we could lose our freedom to those you would take it from us.

Welcome!!
Welcome everybody!
My name is Brenden Pugh and this is my new blog. I've never really been one to like blogging or even reading blogs for that matter. You're probably asking yourself right now, if I don't even like reading blogs why would I start one? The answer is simple: Im upset with our government. Now I'm not anybody special. As a matter of fact i don't even have a college degree! I am simply an american citizen who works a simple job, makes a simple paycheck, lives a simple life, and comes home every night to be with my wonderfully loving wife. I love America and i do not believe that America or the American people are broken. I believe that our government is broken. I believe that the politicians in washington don't have the American people's interests as there first priority and that they don't really understand what it's really like in the life of the average american citizen. Don't mistake me for believing that they're all bad people because they're americans too, but they have lost touch with the people and what the people really want. The average american is so sick of hearing all the crap that comes out of washington that most don't even pay attention anymore. Nobody's answering your campaign calls, nobody wants to see your stupid TV ads, nobody cares about your promises and nobody wants to keep listening to the crap that you all say will happen and never does. The point is that government is meant to serve the people of this country not the other way around. This blog is where I will write down my solutions and what I want to see happen with our government as a normal american citizen. Please join with me, comment and discuss with me, and lets help get this nation back on track.
